Review: Core Synergy Studio

My first time trying static pole!

My review is going to be heavily biased in Core Synergy's favor because I LOVE THE INSTRUCTOR! She is the one in blue in all the following photos. My God she's such a doll.

I was early and so we chatted. I told her I started pole on a spinning pole and hence have no idea how to work a static pole. She then went into this adorable little tirade about how pole dancers should start from static because the conversion from static to spinning is softer than spinning to static.

And man, was she right.

I struggled so bad. She had to keep coming over to personally hold my hand and swing me around because I had no idea how to spin. For spinning poles, you have to keep a death grip on the pole. But for static, you need a flexible grip. You are your own axis.

Photos are stills from the final choreograph before class ended:

I like this move heh heh I like how dramatic my hands are.

And I like this photo for my incredible budding back muscles.

And naturally I like this for my ribcage heh heh.

The two other girls in class were beginners too. And they were cool. They are both backstage hands in Cirque de Soleil: Totem and were inspired to try pole after seeing the performances day in day out. SEE POLE GIRLS ARE THE MOST INTERESTING GIRLS.

The next has to be aerial fabrics/ hoop girls heh heh. I will never be content with any dance on the ground again.

Here is the full video because I am okay with embarrassment.

Can you see my struggle with static? It is cringe-worthy.

Had some time in the day after canceling my power plates sessions (Dempsey Hill, you inaccessible bastard) and tried to do some of the old tricks I used to be able to do. And I don't know if my skin got thinner or I got weaker, but I can no longer do a cross legged sit.

So fucking disappointed. But I supposed I shouldn't give up.

Ya ya I'm indomitable ya ya shut up inner voice, you can't feel my pain nor my bruises.

Words of wisdom from mad fellow poler Lixuan: This is how you can tell if someone is a poler. Just look for the brusies. And it is true because she has two gorgeous lines of them hahah see THIS IS HOW MUCH I LACK IN PRACTICE COMPARED TO HER.

I am an ashamed little girl.
