Goddamn can I love any yoga studio more?!
I ranted a shit ton on Twitter and not here. But in a nutshell, KFit has disappointed me and so I begun making a mental list of yoga places to continue at in case I truly need to cancel my bloody membership. And this place, man this place comes up tops.
Most of the yoga studios I go to will do maybe one advanced move per five basic moves. Even after taking intermediate yoga, I'd still find the class to be at a 1-5 ratio. And so it stroked my ego because I thought neh I'm getting pretty good at this!
Except for any flexibility over strength poses because while I can rip a coke can in half with my hands, I cannot reach for it if you place it at my toes. SHAME ON ME. Good thing I don't drink coke. Maybe I'll stretch if it was milo. Maybe I'd choose to starve. The pointless mystery continues.
Anyway, so I thought I was getting pretty good at this but;
NO! SLAP TO THE FACE!
Avante provided the gracefully strong hand to slap my face with, powering through back-to-back advanced moves while maintaining the grace of a seasoned ballerina. I'd catch up for three poses, then lose the next three, then catch up again, rinse and repeat.
At this point, we had to hold our feet between the cease of our thigh for eight consecutive moves. The most Space and Light Yoga ever put me through was four moves and that's an intermediate class. So as you can tell, Avante takes no halfhearted shit for an answer.
Which is great because I MANAGED TO DO MY FIRST EVER CROW POSE TODAY because the instructor refused to let me give up and kept trying to help me. Also helped that the other three girls in class could stretch like circus award-winners so they didn't need her as intensely as I did.
So if it helps, this is my shortlisted studio list, in that order:
1) Shiva Yoga for their Core Werk and Hot Classic
2) Samastha Yoga for their Functional Stretch
3) Avante Yoga for their Hatha Multilevel
Everything else falls below what I need from a studio.
But anyway, this wasn't the end of my morning. I had a Dance Fit class booked at Vivafit and good God, I was so tired I started to walk funny but I decided to trudge on.
And of course, knowing me and my extraordinary luck, I had a chance to choose between Dance Fit or Circuit Power when I reached, since I was the only student. So guess who decided her boundaries are meant to be pushed and went for torture!!!
Circuit Power was average. I could have gone two more (not necessarily better) rounds. I'd have the stamina but might lose the form. But two rounds gave me a 20-minute headache when I left the studio so maybe four would give me a stroke. Okay maybe it's for the best I didn't go on heh heh.
The instructor was incredibly sweet and kept trying to motivate me. I performed the worst at this core exercise thing. Goddamn I really need more core strength.
Also I kept dreaming about mookata round two tomorrow with Gabriel and his family the whole time I was exercising so I'm going to go continue my delicious daydreams now.
I can do inverts and chopper on a static pole now! Woot!
