Day 6: 6 Days in Tokyo for SGD$700

It was time to go back.

I was sleepless again lol, this time because once again, we clean forgot to book any shuttle bus for our trip to the airport. All the buses had to be booked in advance, but there was a small chance they might have space for un-booked (auto correct tried to give me uncooked) travelers.

So for a 11.55am flight, I woke them up at 5.30am to leave the house at 6am. The objective was to get to Otemachi station as early as possible to try for a place on the 7.30am shuttle bus. We had an hour. We reached at 7.30 exactly.

And WONDERS OF WONDERS, there were a shit ton of travelers in the un-booked queue too! We hurried behind them and started to relax when we saw the number of empty seats vs the number of booked travelers.

An agonizing wait later, we got our 1000 yen seats! Whoop whoop!

Parting ways with my bouquet.

Reached the airport by 8.30am.

We had till 9.55am to while around before checking in. Siewsia decided to go settle her tax refunds while me and Dorisa did the luggage calculations. I think I have the most extraordinary luck with luggages. It always balances!

Dorisa wanted to use the washroom so we were making our way over when I heard a very distinct announcement:

"Can Nicole Lee of Scoot flight TZ201 come to the information desk right now? Thank you."

I freaked out.

I kept shaking Dorisa and asking her if she heard it. Dorisa just went back into her own world and said, "Ya they said TZ201, I think our gate open already. Can check in," when it was 8.45AM HOW TO CHECK IN 12PM FLIGHT.

She refused to budge and kept saying the information counter was too far away and steered our carts to the washroom area. I kept worrying and wondering if maybe my seat got usurped or my passport expired or I was blocked out of Singapore till I saw Siewsia's guilty face walking towards us.

Turned out, she got lost after tax refund and forgot where I told her I'll be, so she sent that announcement out to look for me. Man what a wake up call - all my sleepiness disappeared.

Last photos with my bouquet before I dumped it to check in.

I was mega excited about the Akihabara store. It was supposed to be a duty-free mega snack store. I had saved up so much throughout this trip just so I could splurge here and get everything for my family to try.

I was not disappointed.

It was snack heaven.

Don't bother going anywhere else, save all your souvenir budget for this place.

There were rows and rows of Tokyo Banana, shelves and shelves of 白い恋人, an open fridge carrying Royce chocolates chips, Kit Kats in every flavour under the sun, and an array of all sorts of Japanese snacks.

Tokyo Banana, in every flavour known to mankind, is about 1000 yen for a book of 8. The 白い恋人 is 1200 yen for a box of 10 I believe. The Royce chocolates are 600 yen for a standard-cut box. They were all so cheap I could cry.

Siewsia and Dorisa both lost their mind and wallets here. I, on the other hand, wrote down every item's description and price meticulously on my phone and made sure to bankrupt myself in style. And I did!

I have three longstanding traditions. I would either buy a pen, a book or flowers when I'm overseas. Taiwan had flowers and a pen. Gold Coast had a book and a pen. Bangkok had all three. And now, Tokyo has all three!

I was ecstatically happy that I managed to keep tradition without breaking my bank!

Boarded the plane with plenty of time to spare and spent much of the flight alone, because all three of us got separated into different areas of the plane. Finished Prince of Egypt and cried like a bitch to Eternal Sunshine again.

Landed to the smiliest baby in the world carrying two boxes of doughnuts for me!

I don't know why I don't have photos but he made me a very happy little girl.

He smoked a stick outside the airport and I hugged and humped him senselessly while he kissed my cheeks and stroked my hair. God I have never felt this good to be home. Home is truly where my heart is.

Took a cab home, dropped off my stuff, chit chatted with the family, then back to my second home, his place!

Much of the night was me remembering his scents and touch all over again and being painstakingly glad to be back in his arms again. It also helped that he fell sick and spent the working day after with me! Poor sick baby.

But to conclude, that's it for Tokyo!
