We pretty much ignored our itinerary today heh. Each of us had such different objectives that it became hard to tailor our itinerary to suit everyone. In the end, today ended up being the last day we stuck together as a trio.
Hikawadai in the morning:
Siewsia scratching her head over the transportation system.
Yes I am vain, watch me give a shit.
Also the purple highlights in my hair are making me sob.
There was a toast place that Dorisa wanted to try. If you've ever traveled with me, you would know that food is the lowest on my priorities when I travel. I just choose a place and pray for the best. Won't go out of my way to eat.
Dorisa made us go all the way to Shibya for this!
Thank you jesus for this 680 yen good toast.
To be fair, this place has been heavily featured in every brochure I pick up. In fact, this place has spread to Singapore I think! Here the place calls itself Cafe Aaliya, but in Singapore it should be known as Shibuya Toast.
I'm getting very pissy that the above slew of photos are not edited for lighting. I was so sure I nailed down every single one. No matter. The toast turned out amazing, I never knew toast could taste like this. It melts upon the knife's entrance and merges beautifully with ice cream.
Fuck I want it again.
We went to the Shibuya Crossing afterwards!
Siewsia has a beautiful time lapse of this place that I will extort out of her in time, my photos do not do this road justice. The place was packed as fuck and for a minute, every single car has to stop to allow pedestrians to do as they please. Cross diagonally, straight, in circles - your choice.
Couldn't resist not taking one with the colorful streets!
So cute Siewsia heh heh.
Shopped around at Daiso afterward and I was starting to get under the weather but then I SAW KINOKUNIYA! It was the largest store in Shibya, complete with an in-house cafe. I had an orgasm then went in.
It seemed so fitting to buy Memoirs of a Geisha while I was in Tokyo, but I already have the book somewhere at home and I cannot resist artsy-fartsy books, even if it is the worst value for money book that ever existed.
Yes I am talking about It by Alexa Chung.
Yes I bought it.
I AM NOT ASHAMED.
I remembered that Japan was famous for their magazines, that comes with canvas tote/ hand bags. I picked up one and Siewsia, caught up in the gimmick haha, grabbed one for her mum too. I ended up throwing away the magazine and keeping the bag, true to tradition. I AM 100% JAPANESE!
This is my "dammit these people are judging me" exit.
As if going into a bookstore wasn't orgasmic enough for me, the Tokyo gods decided to give my pleasure new heights by putting a Disney standalone store just walking distance from the bookstore. I CAME AGAIN.
I cannot stress how much I love Disney and Sanrio and miscellaneous girly shit. I pretend to be an ice queen all the time but god I love my pretty things so much I could sob. I ended up buying an 950 yen Ariel bracelet that bloody near bankrupted me. BUT SO WORTH IT!
And after that, Dorisa brought us to the best 750 yen ramen in Tokyo.
My fucking god I know good ramen and I know bad ramen, because I have had so many of the latter that I'm pretty sure my ticket to heaven is guaranteed by how often I give undeserving ramen my willing patronage,
This place, this place was incredible. I AM SO SORRY I CANNOT REMEMBER IT'S NAME. I will get it from Dorisa. The waiting queue time is about 20 minutes but my god. Tangy noodles complete with a well-seasoned soup base and tender tonkutsu meat slices? Fuckkk,
Dorisa ordered their salted egg and swears by it, even getting a second portion to eat raw without the noodles and soup. She gave me a bite to try but I thought it was pretty ordinary.
I bought a bouquet for 500 yen here hehe I am out of control.
En route to Harajuku!
Much of Harajuku was me going everywhere with Siewsia, who had to run all sorts of shopping errands for her family. I didn't mind it much, because I didn't know where else to go. But I thought I could detour tomorrow.
She reminded me that I had to buy sports shoes for the paraglide flight, if not there's a chance I can't even get on. And despite Candice expressly and helpfully coming over to my place the day before to pack with me, reminding me incessantly to bring boots, I PLAIN FORGOT.
So I scoured New Balance, Adidas and Nike to find a kids' collection, because my disgusting size 33 feet makes buying shoes harder than mounting Mount Everest. In the end, my salvation laid in Puma, in their boys' collection.
Hello my 4900 yen beauty.
I love it to fucking death. All my shoes have been too big for me and I never ever found the perfect fit. Not till today. And in scorching, bright red-orange no less. I still dream of Adidas' flyknit, but this is a pretty damned good runner-up. I wore it to sleep that night. Kidding.
Now that I think about it, all my best purchases were made today. This pair of shoes, the bouquet of roses, the Ariel bracelet. All the little things that makes me happy overseas, I managed to clear in a single day. Whoop!
Here we have an example of bad ramen.
I kept eating from Dorisa's and Siewsia's because mine was so god-awful. I ate barely three spoons and discarded the rest, because the girls didn't want any of it too. I felt so bad for the chefs, who opened till 11 for us,
And the chefs are all so elderly! I am sorry.
Though the bitch in me is saying that just gives you like decades more time to fine-tune your craft, why isn't my ramen better! Okay but in fairness, Siewsia's duck udon was heaven in a bowl and Dorisa's curry rice was savory to the last bite so maybe you just can't do ramen.
My orange-purple minx of a hair is making me cry happy tears.
