The Lees go climbing

Was hyped the whole week about this!

I bought the 5 for $80 pass for Climb Central when I went to climb with Gabriel, so that meant I still had three passes left. So I managed to convince the lazy brother and the annoying sister to go with me to use them up!

The whole week I was excited so I kept trying to give them tips for climbing but my sister kept going, "I dance leh, of course I have muscles, how hard can it be?" and my brother kept going, "I climbed higher in NCC."

The day loomed ahead, with my grandma, aunt and uncle joining too hehe.

1 out of 3 climbed. Guess who. It was my grandma. Ok no really. But it would be her if mid-climb, I tell her I'm hungry. She'd climb up with a bowl of chicken porridge no matter what her knees have to say about it.

Hehe so lovable.

In case you missed it, here is my full Climb Central review:

Moving on, we reached there at 11am because I thought that was their usual operating time but nooo it was 9am on weekends. Sister and brother ended up registering and not using my pass. Oh well, MORE FOR ME!

I told them to warm up and make the rest of the climbs easier, they have to conquer the entire wall right right at their first time. So we split into two teams - I belayed my sister while my brother belayed my uncle.

My sister was barely 2m into climbing when she started freaking out and demanded to be let down. Recalling Songyan's practice with me (thank you you cruel man), I refused to let her down and told her to keep going.

But her face was so pale that I decided I did not want to be liable hahaha.

It wasn't going too good at my uncle's side too. Both my uncle and brother did not pass the 6m mark, and both did not force the other to continue when the call to be let down came. All 3 of them did not make it to the top.

My sister belayed me so I scaled the wall twice - first trying speed climbing via rainbow routing, reaching the top in a speedy 6 second personal best. I also learnt my upper body strength is truly doing me proud.

The route I chose was set for a lot of jumps, so I did. The past four times I came, I didn't dare to leap because I had no faith in my strength. But today, I leaped and jumped whenever I could, pushing my arm muscles as far as I could to support my full body weight. They came through!

AND IT PAID OFF! 6 FUCKING SECONDS! That is me scaling 2 meters for every 1 second. WHOOP WHOOP! This is beginner happiness for me so if you're a pro please go away.

The second time I scaled, I tried to do a color route. I tried a 5a green, but I faced a lot of difficulties. I couldn't reach most of the rocks. Being short is a natural disadvantage I suppose. BUT I REACHED THE TOP!

Went to the auto-belay lanes after that with my uncle, sister and brother. Tried to convince them that if they cannot conquer the 12m wall, at least try to scale the 6m one and call it a day. My brother made it easily.

My uncle climbed to the top and, just like me the first two times, did not dare to come down via auto belay. He opted to climb down slowly instead, wasting the body strength that could have been used for one more route.

My sister reached the top, where I was waiting. She wanted me to get photos of her so I climbed a while after her but reached the top first, so I had time. Which explained the above stream of selfies. Then finally she reached!

I have a video, I'll upload it once I have it figured.

So anyway, after two hours the three of them were seriously drained so we went to get lunch. Grandma and aunt were daiso-ing as usual and had a good loot by the time we came out.

Digressing, there is a 12m auto belay route that is at 6b. Me, songyan and dorisa all tried it but none of us can make it past the first 2m orange cone. Gabriel made it past the 2m mark, but did not manage to reach the 4m one.

Today, I spent a good half an hour plotting and re-plotting my route up that same lane. Surprisingly, I passed the 2m cone on my first try, and I reached the 4m cone on my second. But I could not conquer it.

I hung around on sheer willpower for 10 minutes at the 4m mark thinking which rock to grab next. But most of it were too far for me. In total I tried thrice. All three times, I fell because I leaped but my hand alone couldn't support my weight. Wasted too much energy dangling and deciding.

But that's good, that means I have a reason to go back.

Shaky but it has all three of us!

But anyway, my aunt continued to tell me that when I was climbing that, a group of lion dancers were watching me and saying I probably can't make it to the top, and saying, "SEE! Told you she cannot already!" when I fell.

Lololol I hope one day, all of them end up on the edge of a rock in somewhere destitute like vietnam and their only survival chance is if they climb up. And I wish I could be there to drop a sarcastic tear when I push them to hell.

I miss working here :(

We entered a second time but the baby brother wanted to do more bouldering, so I would chart out the climbing path for him, then miserably climb down because I don't dare to jump hahaha. He'd follow my climbing path but jump confidently down, mocking me on his descent. I deserve it :'(

Once again I have videos but until I have a legit video editing software NOTHING GETS UPLOADED. Which means I have to get it downloaded by tonight. Please give me suggestions I need them.

What a great day hehe.

Knocked out for four hours the minute I reached home. Amen my arm muscles.
