Scattered, scattered thoughts.
I asked grandma how old she was today and she said 67. And that my grandpa was 74. And for very cruelly honest answers, it terrified me. It got me thinking if this world could end with me.
There have been reports that it's the first snow in Egypt in a 100 years. It is a long time to consider if you take into account our lifespan. But when you take the age of the world, it doesn't seem that long around.
A century is nothing to this earth. It has been around for so long. For all that we claim to know, we are tiny and minute in the face of this world. Take the ozone layer. Do you properly know what is it?
Ozone is a colorless gas. Near the Earth's surface, ozone reactions cause rubber to crack, hurt plant life, and damage people’s lung tissues. But ozone also absorbs harmful components of ultraviolet B (UV-B) sunlight, protecting living things below.
Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) are what causes this ozone depletion because they go straight for the ozone, leading to holes. But CFC output has since been controlled and because it takes 100 years to decompose, the ozone may slowly heal towards 2050, when the atmosphere is finally rid of this disgusting carbon.
Isn't it amazing?
I won't go about into our creation because that's a meaningless dark abyss that's gonna get talked about to death - but we all agree that we were borne out of a womb.
What we have around us - the trees for our breaths, the offerings for our food, the seas for our water - all these are natural and given to us with no requirement of return.
Yet, we are so outrageously destructive that we take this given and wield it as right. We are so disgustingly abusive that we can take what was nature and mold it to be an act against nature - case in point CFC.
I have digressed too far. I lost my point but in a nutshell - the snow has been interpreted in two ways by two vastly different people. The common folk see it as a miracle and they revel in it. The scientists and weathermen grab their hair and wonder what the fuck is going on.
And I won't take sides because I believe its a lovely surprise at face value but underneath, I understand that this means the weather is becoming volatile. But I truly hope this is not a big cause of concern.
The Earth has been around a long time and I hope it stays around for a lot longer.
