Proud of you

I maxed out my body today.

I was already tired from school but thankfully, I booked all my classes the night before so I had no chance to back out of them. Krista, at the last minute, told me she could make it for pole tonight so on top my current two classes, I booked one more.

Today's sequence was core at Strala, kpop at Wings to Wings and mounts and inverts at Milan Pole Studio.

Core was tough. Su's classes concentrate fixedly on core. We'd do boat poses and side cruches till the entire class collapses. But today was Yani, and her class was more cardio than core. Plenty of moves squeezed into an hour, ending in an assisted forearm handstand. I was so happy :')

Dance after worried me. I am highly insecure when it comes to things I'm new to. Taking contemporary at Wings to Wings was already traumatizing for me. Kpop was entirely different, so much more lively and fun, so much more for me. It's hard picking it up but I'll get there.

But mounts and inverts -- this was the murderer of the night.

I've been running around the whole day for classes and so I reached, panting and flushed, only to realized Krista was late. Not just late; she didn't show up at all. I was quite disappointed since I took this class especially for her, but I pressed on.

And pressing on was very fucking hard lol. Core with Yani already wrecked my body once. Dance was, I supposed, a breeze compared to core but it still took a toll on stamina. And then now, I had to do mounts and inverts on a pole?!

I think I never wanted to face it, but I quit pole not because I outgrew it, but because I stopped being able to progress. See like, I could go for a dozen yoga or HIIT classes and everyone would tell me how fit I am or how especially strong I am.

But when I come to pole, I'm the weakest one again.

I thought it would get better but it didn't. My fear of being unable to do it makes me all sweaty and nervous, leading to slippery grips and slipping up the choreo.

It always amazes me how professional pole dancers do it. Do you realize you are werking it on a vertical pole?! Supporting your full weight not even from above a la pull-up bars, but from the side? Flags are nothing to pole dancers. They can do so much more.

Pole is truly the hardest fucking thing to do.

I can think of nothing harder.

Except maybe the men watching la hahah ok Nicole.

Tons of belly folds but I'm not too concerned since I was bending over and in a great deal of exertion already LOL. BUT LOOK AT THE END RESULT OH MY GOD DOES THAT LOOK LIKE A NEEDLE SPLIT OR WHAT.

I'm still bummed that Krista didn't come in the end but I'm so, so, so glad that I persisted. I was smashed halfway through the conditioning already (core and dance back to back before this, no joke pls) but as it turned out and as it will always turn out, my body will not let me down.

So I'm proud of you today body.

Let's survive the next 3 working days of muscle pain and tears.
